Lea Trost, a Master Student from the Molecular Lifesciences program, joined our lab for her Master thesis. We are excited to have you Lea and wish you lots of fun and good results!

Our proposal for a Starting Grant from the European Research Council was selected for funding! In the project “MitoRNA”, we will explore the mechanisms underlying the RNA life cycle in human mitochondria. Read more in the press release by the UMG (German) or the MPI-NAT (English).

Ana Vučković started her PhD in our group! She is a student from the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) Molecular Biology and previously did her Master thesis work in our lab. We are very happy and excited that you decided to stay in the team!

Saruby Sharma, a student from the International Max Planck Research School (IMPRS) Molecular Biology, joined our lab as a PhD student! She has expertise in membrane protein biochemistry. Welcome Saruby, we are exicted to have you!

We are happy to welcome Fernanda Sala to our team as a postdoctoral researcher! Fernanda did her MSc and PhD in Brazil working with X-Ray crystallography, and decided to join our lab to work on cryo-EM of mitochondrial complexes. Welcome to the team Fernanda!

We are excited to welcome Lewis Clark to our team! Lewis did his Master’s at the University of Exeter, and decided to join us for his PhD. We are glad to have you and are looking forward to exciting science ahead!

Bernhard Kuhle joined our lab as a postdoctoral researcher. He did his PhD in Göttingen and then moved to the Scripps Institute in La Jolla, where he worked on mitochondrial tRNA synthesases. Welcome Bernhard, we are excited to have you!

Hauke has been selected to become part of the EMBO Young Investigator Programme. This will provide various types of support to him and the group for a duration of four years. Click here to read the full press release by the UMG (German).

Arjun Bhatta, PhD student in the lab, won a poster prize at the EMBO | FEBS Lecture Course “Mitochondria in life, death and disease” held from September 27 – October 1, 2022 in Montenegro. Many congratulations Arjun, we are very proud!

Franziska Finke was awarded a prestigious PhD Fellowship by the Boehringer Ingelheim Fonds. Congratulation Franzi – we are very proud!
